  1. Kinda slow around here :dunno: The lights on my quad kinda suck, I was looking into adding LED bars and even the LED lights the chef has, but rather then add on to the quad (and also burns more power) it would be better to replace the existing lights with HID. Found these kits on Ebay for $38 each. Two sets is enough to replace all four lights and will draw the same power as the existing lights.

Will post the results, have to dry out one housing first, I already have an idea where to mount the ballasts. They are listed as fully waterproof so they should be ok for the quad.

  2. I posted this originally on an Arctic Cat fourm. There is a website where you can download the complete schematics for the machine but the PDF file contains ALL of them including snowmobiles. I thought it would be useful to post this guide because it can apply to other machines and for other uses. (such as maps) The website listed (K&T Parts house) has complete service manuals and schematics for Arctic Cats. Other brands probably can get a PDF of their service manuals as well and schematics. I found printing out the schematic on a single page made it too small so I found a way to print it on four pages and splice them together to make a nice printout. This uses all free software (best kind) So enjoy!

The website that has the schematics located here.

"K&T Parts House Lawn Mower Parts and Chain Saw & Trimmer Parts"

The file is large and includes a whole slew of schematics, the question is how to extract out the one you need and print it? The diagrams don't print well on a regular sheet of paper due to their size so here is a procedure to get the diagram you need and make a nice print. This will be with utilities you can get for free (the best kind :)

After downloading the large PDF of the schematics, go to this website here...

Tracker Software Products :: PDF-XChange Viewer, Free PDF Reader

    Download pdf-xchange (its free)

Open the pdf file with this program. by clicking on the selections you can get to the exact schematic you need. Once its displayed do this:

File -> Export -> Export to Image

Select "Current page" , Image type "JPEG", choose your folder to drop the image, give it a name like "2006 400 auto" set page zoom to 100% and resolution to 300 or 400 dpi Then click export. You will now have a JPG of the page.

Next step is to go to this website...

    posteriza.com - Home

Download the program (free) What this will do is allow you to tke this large JPG and break it up onto several pages. I use 4 for the schematics. Its pretty easy to follow and I print them without a border. Print them out and use an old fashioned "cut & tape" and you will now have a nice large printout of your schematic.

  3. This is for you Dennis and Bob:

The first picture is a 2 wire trailer connector, you can buy this at any auto parts store. This is what is used to connect to the accessory plugs so you do not have to splice any wires.

Second picture is where the winch's solenoid will mount. Arctic Cats provide a location to bolt the solenoid and it is probably in a similar area on your machines.

Third picture is the '366 showing the front accessory power port. I have and warmers and the winch's low current point connected here. Deluxe hand warmers will come with the connectors already attached and two of them so you can daisy chain another accessory. In this case I have it terminated with the winch control wire.

Fourth picture is the rear accessory power port. Same connector, same fuse. and both are set to shut off with the key (not always on power) It is capped to prevent corrosion.

Fifth picture is what I made to connect a battery tender. Dennis you mentioned seeing this plug near here and it was also switched with the key, that is for the passenger hand warmer kit. You cannot use it for a battery tender. You will have to make one of these connected to the battery to make it easy to hook up a tender.

BTW: typically stock Arctic Cat batteries suck, I only got two years out of mine, but if you use a tender, you should get better life out of it then I did.

Sixth picture is showing the winch's solenoid connected to the frame looking from the other side. You should see two holes for screws to connect the relay here.

    Hope this helps

  4. Im sure the chef can weld you up a nice rollcage.

Went to check my brake pads before the SSRT ride and discovered my rear bearings are worn. So looks like a little work before the weekend is in order. Got them chilling in the freezer right now.

  5. I get the Sportsman guide and saw they advertised a Grip-on 3000lb ATV winch for $100! This includes a wireless remote control. (plus the regular handlebar switch) Next to it a universal winch mount for 1.24 and 2 inch receivers.

    Winch direct link.

    Winch mount to receiver.

    http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=683962

Not sure how good a quality the winch is but for the price this opens up the idea of making a removable rear-mounted winch that can be slapped into the receiver. No need to wire the switch as it has the wireless control.

The downside is these items are back ordered. I ordered them and it said its not expected in until September 7th. I just clicked on the cart and now it says July 23rd. So maybe ill get them sooner. Total cost with shipping for both items came to $131.43 (but I also have their club discount) Just wanted to pass this along if anyone is looking for a winch.

  6. Last year the gauge on my SUV acted up and would only read between half and full all the time. Just did this out of the blue and did not go away. I dumped the Techron in and about two weeks later it cleared up and has not acted up since. This was about a year ago.

The sending unit apparently gets fouled by the sulfur and/or the ethanol additives in the gas. My Arctic cat gauge got so bad at one point the Techron would not fix it and it had to be replaced. At least it was only $70. The symptoms were similar. Would read full sitting, but as soon as you ride it would drop to empty.
