  2. On 3/12 close to a dozen Valley ATV Club members attended the meeting. We were among an estimated 200+, both in person & online. We were well received. There were also several board members from NEPa sno trails in the room. I knew they were having their meeting on the 13th & adjusted my schedule so I could attend it. A lot was discussed. On the downside they voted to increase the cost of a trail pass to $75/season. On the positive side they are collaborating with Jim Kemmerer of the Lakewood Lodge to get roads opened in Preston township. They also have gotten uniondale to open up the road between Backwoods BBQ & The Beacon Bar & Grill. They are also developing a few loop trails off of the O&W. Their attitude about expanding south seems to have changed drastically in the last year. They also seem to be wanting to position themselves to take responsibility of managing the proposed riding areas in Carbondale. After the meeting I was talking with Sean, one of their board members, & he told me his vision is to create a 500 mile or more trail system. I offered my help if & when necessary. He suggested that our clubs might want to consider collaborating. I urge all that can attend the NEPa sno trails meetings to do so. They're normally the 2nd Tuesday of the month @6pm 1108 lower main street Forest City. They have a Facebook page. Normally their meetings are public every other month. The private meetings are board of directors meetings. I intend to go to their meetings whenever I am in town. It would be nice if one or two of our members could get on their board of directors, to help steer things in a better direction. They're finally realizing that their isn't enough snow to keep them going 👍😝 That's all I have to report. Feel free to comment & give feedback etc
  3. Thank You ! What rear view camera did you go with ?My dealer recommended vision works. I went on their website & they have a system that integrates w/your trucks existing backup monitor. I don't really want another gizmo cluttering my cab. We're gonna be running a C.B. & I have never had any luck w/suction cups on my windshields. Too much nicotine lol 👍😝
  4. Is there a preferred type or brand of anti-sway hitch systems ? It seems like it's a necessary accessory & pricey. I'd like to buy one that works best. Opinions, input & comments from personal experience are much appreciated O
  5. Has anyone had any experience good/bad with Meyers RV or Stoltzfus RV ? I am looking at a Salem FSX 190RTK & so far Stoltzfus came in with best price. Meyers was about $6k more but is offering to attempt to meet or beat, but that sales person reminds me of shady R.E. agents in the mid 90's lol.
  6. I reached out to them. They're looking. Think I might have found one. Forest river Salem FSX 190 RTKX has 17' of garage space & is like 26' long. They also make the same thing in their Wildwood lineup. Trying to determine difference. Got quote from Stoltzfus of just under 32k out the door. He was 1k under an alleged wholesaler in Ohio lol 👍😝 There is a 10-12 week lead time on orders. We have a Fla trip planned in May for nephews graduation & I plan to visit an old buddy from work who rides m.c. & offroads too 👍😉
  7. I've used atvtrader to find my last few atvs & autotrader to find my last 5 vehicles & the search parameters are broad. It seems the toyhauler search engines focus more on advertising the amenities than they do the functionality. There is no option for extra large garage 😐
  8. That's a lot of legwork. I was hoping to find a simpler way. I found one unicorn by accident w/17' garage & decent layout, from forest river but only found one for sale used in texas. I saw a momentum w/16'+ garage but bathroom layout sucks. They put the toilet right in front of the shower at an angle & a Murphy bed 👍😝. It didn't bother me but Denise said no lol. That one is 26', where as the forest river is 33' I want to be able to put the Harley trike & a SXS or the ATV in plus the kayaks & go 👍😉 I have a trip to Florida in May for nephews graduation. It would be nice to hit some trails while we're there 👍😉
  9. I'm looking for a good search engine to find a toyhauler matching my needs. The unicorns are out there lol. I'm looking for a forest river sandstorm 282slr or similar w/17' garage. The search engines that I've used don't offer length of garage as a search option 😐 Thanx in advance
  10. There wad no difference in insurance my concern is longevity, but also the ability to make a trailroad repair. It seems that many of these units are welded to the frame & require a big expense to replace. On a different note it seems that airstream started using this system in the mid 60's. The upgrade is about $250. I'm gonna investigate a little more. If Denise doesn't come up with something better, I'm probably placing order on tuesday. Contemplating multiple rows of E-bar & ladder rack on top, for multi use 👍😉
  11. I am looking to get an enclosed trailer. The ones on the lot didn't really suit my needs, so I might have one built. I was offered a choice between leaf spring axle or torsion axle. Leaning towards leaf for longevity & easier replacement. Has anyone had experience with both ? If so what is your preference on a trailer that might get pulled off road occasionally ? Thanx in advance for the input 👍😉
  12. Thanx !!! The one I was looking at sold quick. It had perfect layout for my needs & was 30'
  13. I am looking to pull the trigger on a toy hauler. Who does everyone use for insurance ? What can I expect to pay annually ? Also who do you use for inspection ? Thanx in advance for the tips 👍😉

    Trail gates

I am contemplating an SxS. & looking at what is available in stock. What are members opinions on teryx ? There are a few on showroom floors but width spec is 62.5". I know we squeeze wider than 58" thru the gate at Dixon Miller. I am wondering what the widest that I can get thru the gate without breaking stuff 👍😉
  15. I just got the grizzly back from Scott Passports. The service manager told me the bill would've been over $2k if it hadn't been covered under my warranty. The only thing that I had to pay for out of pocket was about $110 for a new winch contactor. I having been hemming & hawing between cannd ham & pole hairless. Kinda leaning towards the hairless. If we wanna maga we gotta put our $ where are mouths are. Hairless seems to be most made in the USA of major brands with good dealer base. Farting cat is off the radar until the dust settles & the smoke clears from all the restructuring. It's a shame, 3 years ago they were at the top of the list. I am looking in the 800-1000 cc class. Looking to shakedown the grizzly on the club ride to Dixon on saturday & then one more ride before it gets listed for sale. I wanna replace a few broken cosmetic plastic pieces & put some shiny new hardware & fasteners, so it has more curb appeal. The price difference is about $1k -$2k between ham & hairless, ham being the more costly. I will road trip if necessary to get whatever I decide to go with. Hoping whatever it is that it's available in camo. It's the best color for outlaw rides lol, & hunting purposes 👍😉
  16. It's time for an upgrade. Contemplating pole hairless or cannd ham in 2-up versions, 850/1000cc If you were in the market, which brand would you choose & why ? I am torn between these 2 manufacturers at this point, & looking for some guidance & experiences of others as far as reliability & warranty coverage. Thanx in advance

  18. needing a ride somewhere interesting

  19. Denise and I headed out saturday 7/2 and we had booked a room at kettle creek because after researching i found that you can ride from their parking lot to the trails. We got a late start and arrived around 3ish, checked in, ordered some food to go, as their restaurant closes at 8pm and we were a lil worried we might not be back in time to sit down and eat later. We plotted a route of places on the trail that we wanted to get to, leaving anything after that open if time permitted. We covered lot of the lower end of the trails and decided to hit some of the trails on the eastern side and make a restroom stop at the parking lot. we then rode the south western side of the remediated area and a headed south on the huling branch road to the parking lot and back to the road to kettle creek inn, where we made it in time for dinner. We got an early start on sunday and hit almost everything that we didn't on saturday. I found 2 mudholes that swallowed my grizzly and clogged the radiator. We accidently wound up on the donut hole snowmobile trail and when we got to a boundary sign we sat and contemplated what to do. A group we saw earlier came up and thru from the other side and said they ventured it but decided to turn back because it got too steep for their comfort. While we were getting ready to turn back 3 more machines came thru & one of them was a silver haired gentleman from SSRT who told us that it's the snowmobile trail up from kettle creek camp ground and that they were there and saw the park ranger and the atmosphere was positive w/ more than a few 4 wheelers in campsites. later we ran into them again on a rocky section of trail and were talking about ssrt/bloody skillet and joked about how that lil stretch we were on is reminiscent of LT lol. The silver haired gentleman told me he answers the phone when you call ssrt and that Mike had taken him on a few rides in our neck of the state. All in all we had a blast. Time to do clutch and one way bearing on 450 and need to see if fan malfunctioned on 700 or if its just the mud fouling a sensor. I highly recommend staying at the kettle creek inn, nice to be able to ride right up to where you're staying instead of loading up & drivin down the road. accomodations were decent, clean and relaxed. The food was fresh & good. The staff was friendly and courteous as were the other guests. I put my pix up in the gallery, Denises pix are on my FB page
  20. I would like to go and check them out too, there is strength in #'s and we all need to band together & support the fight for more open trails. As a former hiker it disappoints me that legal public riding opportunities for me and my redneck hoverounds are few and far between lol. there next meeting is this coming monday
